I so much respect the hard work that goes into major repairs on a schooner like this. They are replacing so much of this sailboat I wonder if there will be any of the original ship left! Dead of winter in the Northeast probably a foot or two of snow on the ground and nothing to stay warm in here but a wood stove.
“Another big couple of weeks. Despite snowfall and mornings that started well below zero, oak chips continue to fly. One of our small accomplishments: we leveled the small amount of keel hog by dropping the keel blocking down a few inches and letting her settle. The garboard rabbet and keel eased down perfectly straight, and the transom lifted the same amount, just like we hoped. Hoping to get her sheerline as sweet as it was in 1922. Another few weeks, and we’ll be done framing and on to planking, ceiling, and the sheer structure.”
